How to Make a Weapon for the Zombie Apocalypse

Hello the few people that will end up reading this, congratulations on finding this! I would ask that if you like it please share it with your friends, and if you don't like it please tell me why in the comments.

Ok, so this is an instructable about building a club/ melee weapon. The ones I have made are very sturdy and have held up to many hits with a sledgehammer (Testing strength), and still have not failed me. All of the materials for this were found in the trash heap at a construction site, I managed to salvage 3 saw blades, a lot of lumber, and a little over 300 various nails and screws. I have permission to do this, so do it at your own risk.

Yeah, well, if you like it, tell me, and ill make more instructables.

Gather Materials:

You will need very few things to make this weapon, and you can use even less if that's what you wish.

  • Piece of hardwood
  • Hammer
  • Nails
  • Saw blade
  • Something sharp (to cut out handle)
  • Grip/ electrical tape

Last of all, safety, I am not responsible for any harm you do to yourself or others so please wear safety glasses, gloves, and never swing this at a living thing.(I didn't say anything about the undead)

Shaping the Handle:

step 2.PNG

Put on your gloves and safety glasses, grab the piece of wood and start carving out a handle. Don't spend too much time on it, and don't carve it down too much or else it will break easier.

Making the Wood Stronger:

I figured out that no matter how tough a piece of wood is, bashing it into something repetitively tends to make it splinter and break. Due to this I tried several methods of strengthening the wood, and all of them didn't work good enough. Fortunately, I had an idea, What if there was something to keep the wood from separating even after it breaks. That is how I came up with the super scientific method of putting nails into the wood. The nails keep the wood from falling apart even after it breaks.

You're going to want to put at least 3 nails into each side of the wood, keeping 2 flat sides nail free.

Adding the Saw Blade:

First, take your saw blade and make sure that the center piece doesn't pop out. If it does forcefully break it out. Once its ready, hammer in at least 3 nails in a peace sign arrangement in the center circle. After it is mainly secured, hammer a few more in in between the teeth of the blade. Put as much as you can without hampering the saw blade's ability to cut.

Please note that the saw blade on the club above broke off because I did not remove the inside piece, the improved version held up to an extra 20 hits from the sledgehammer so yes, it does make a difference.

Ensuring Strength:

Nails have a bad habit of wiggling their way free, so I decided that it would be best to hammer down all of the screw ends. Make sure that they are hammered down flat, and that they are hammered in all the way.

Finally add a grip tape or electrical tape handle so that you don't receive any splinters. Show off to friends, frame, kill some zombies, do what you will. Just please remember to be safe and be very careful with the weapon I just taught you to make.
