How to Make a Veggie Garden in Your Yard.

This is our project I started 2 years ago with my younger brother and my dad. It took quite a lot of work and my brother and I did most of it. Right now we are waiting for planting season to come and have laid down long grass so no weeds come. I made this instructable because it's will definitely save everyone a lot of money and normal vegetables and fruits go through a lot of processing.

Supplies

You will need:

  • Spade
  • Hammer

  • Long poles
  • Small poles
  • Some type of fencing
  • Rope and netting
  • Wooden poles
  • Cement and wheelbarrow

The first thing you want to is find an area in your garden to start planting. It doesn't have to be big, just make sure it is in the corner of your garden where it is next to your fence. Then you want to start digging up the grass there. If you want to conserve the grass you can dig along the sides and then dig about 10 centimeters under. Otherwise you can just dig up the grass.

The step is optional. We did it so no rodents or dogs could get in. First we put some pieces of a roof we got against the fence. You can use fencing for this but just make sure no rodents or birds can get through. On the front section we put our wooden fencing so none of our dogs could get in. Where you put some small poles up and used a mixture of dirt and water to cement the poles in. Then we put the wooden fencing against the poles.

In this step we cemented large wooden poles about 2 m high at each side of our soon to be veggie garden. Again make sure one pole is close to the fence. Between the poles you can tie rope so the netting can lean on the rope. The next step is getting netting that will be able to go over both your poles on both sides, one side going to the front where the wooden fencing stops your dogs getting in and down to about a meter high on your fence just above where you put your rodent stopper fence. If your net is not big enough you can so it together using rope.

In the middle of the netting you can put more taller poles so it keeps the netting up. If you want a better explanation watch the video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/DUuoBCFT9P9upDkDA. Also another helpful thing you can use for how much space you need for the plants you want to use is a site called Farming God's Way. It is extremely helpful and can even teach you to make your own compost.

The last thing I wanted to do is tell you a little about our farming story. We started off by creating a chicken enclosure and I created an chicken coop out of an old dog house. Unfortunately we weren't able to get the chicken so now we are just using it for storage. We also have been using Farming God's Way to make our own compost. This project that I have shown you was so we could farm our own plants in small scale.

From our from our vegetable garden we got huge results, including a 500 g tomato, lettuce and other things.
