How to Make a Two Compartment Pencil Holder

In this instructable, you will get to make a two-compartment pencil holder to hold all your stationary.

For this, you will need...

- scissors or a cutter

- pencil

- ruler

- high impact polystyrene

- a cup of 250mL

- plaster powder

- water (1,500 mL or more)

- tape

Use your ruler and pencil to draw out:

- 5.5cm side octagon x1 (Part 1)

- 5.5cm by 10cm rectangles x7 (Part 1)

- 2.5cm side octagons x2 (Part 2 & Part 3)

- 2.5cm by 6cm rectangles x7 (Part 2)

- 2.5cm by 13cm rectangles x8 (Part 3)

- 2cm radius circle x1 (Part 4)

- 12.5cm by 8cm rectangle x1 (Part 4)

Take your scissors or cutters and cut out all the shapes separately.

Using the identification of parts in step 1, stick the different parts together to make three-star shapes for Part 1 through 3 and 1 cylindrical shape for part 4.

Using your tape take the edges up for Parts 1 through 3 and stick them together for each compartment to form octagonal prisms. Then take both. Part 1 and 2 and stick them together where they both have a gap. Part 3 then goes in Part 1 as its core and Part 4 goes in Part 2.

Test the molds and cores by pouring water into them and ensuring there are no leaks. If there are dry the shapes and add more tape to close the opened areas and if there aren't any more leaks then move on to the next.

Using a bucket, a spatula and a cup pour 3 cups of water into the bucket and two cups of plaster powder. Then start mixing until there are no more bumps, use this to fill the mild up a bit then add the cores on top. then gradually fill the molds with more plaster all the way to the top.

Put your plaster in a safe place and let it dry for at least 30 mins.

Using a cutter remove the polystyrene around the shape and remove the cores. (You can also file the top of the edges making it sharper). And now you are all done, hope you enjoyed making your own pencil holder.
