Do you have trouble making a tie blanket? If you do, I can help by showing you 6 easy and simple steps. I have been making tie blankets for different kinds of fundraisers, benefits, and giveaways with these 6 easy steps since I was 8 years old. I know that it is commonly known how to make a tie blanket, but studies show that people don’t actually know how to make a tie blanket until they reach the age of 16 and by time they reach that age, they don’t really see any fun or joy with making a tie blanket. So, here are my 6 easy and simple steps with making a tie blanket!

Supplies

Fabric

Scissors

Get Fabric

Go get some fabric and get it cut to a desired length. Go to Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Fabric Barn for fabric. Some common lengths are: 1.5 yards, 2 yards, 3 yards. It would be easier to do with 2 different colors of fabric but 1 color of fabric will work just as well. Find some fabric scissors as well, it will make it easier to cut the fabric.

Line Up and Measure

Go home and lay the fabric down on a hard surface, such as a table or floor. Line up the fabric so that the edges are touching on all 4 sides of the fabric. It will be easier if it is on a hard surface so like a hard wood floor or a table. It will work on carpet too, it will just be harder as the fabric will be caught on the carpet.

Cut Time!

Cut the fabric into strips that are about 1 inch to about 1.5 inches thick and around 2 inches long. Make sure that the strips are all cut to the same length and that they stop at the same time in the fabric. Also, make sure that both pieces of fabric are being cut at the same time when this step is being done!

Tie

Take the first strip and tie them together. To secure the knot, double knot it to make sure it stays tied together and that it will not come undone. Repeat this step with all of the strips! When this step is being done, make sure that the blanket is not bunching up. If it is, try not to tie the strips together

Cutting Corners!

This step is optional. Take the corners and measure them out to 2inches by 2inches. Cut the corners off. This will make the blanket look better and cleaner. Again, this step is completely optional but recommended.

Finished Product!

Once all of the strips are cut and tied, go through and make sure that all of the strips are even in length. Once that is done, the tie blanket is complete!!
