How to Make a Tie Blanket
Hi. My name is Pam Dahl.
Today I will be demonstrating how to make a tie blanket. I have made multiple tie blankets before and have received many compliments on them. I’m going to demonstrate a few easy steps to help you make your own blanket. You’ll need two sheets of fabric, a ruler, fabric chalk, and scissors. Since it’s always cold in the Midwest, I’ll help you make your own tie blanket.
Get Your Supplies
First, you will have to get the fabric. You want to get two sheets of fabric of the same size and decide in yards how big you’ll want your blanket.
Align the Edges
Once you have your fabric chosen and cut, you’ll unfold it and line up the edges. When the edges have been aligned, you may decide to trim off some of the edge of the fabric to make the edges more precise.
Draw Guidelines
After aligning the edges, you’ll take the ruler and fabric chalk to mark where you’re going to cut the fabric. On each corner of the fabric, you will draw a 6 inch by 6 inch square. After you draw the lines for the square, you will then want to draw out the lines for the strips of the blanket. These strips will be 6 inches long and about an inch and a half wide. You will draw out the lines for these all the way around the blanket.
Cut on Lines
Once you have finished drawing all of the lines, you’ll cut on each of the lines with the scissors. Make sure you cut through both sheets of fabric and the fabric doesn’t become off-centered while you cut. The squares that you cut out from the corners will not be needed, so they can be thrown in the trash.
Tie Blanket Together
When all of the lines have been cut, you’ll tie the strips of each fabric to the other sheet. You’ll want to make all of the ties a double knot so that it doesn’t come undone.
Enjoy
Now that you have completed all of the steps, you should have your own blanket created. These blankets are something that are very easy to make and do the job. You’ll be able to enjoy your blanket more since you picked the designs and created it yourself.
