How to Make a Take-out Chicken Protein at Home

Have you ever wanted to know how to make a Qdoba bowl at home? Well here it is, this is a recipe for a customizable protein bowl. It is healthy and yummy! I hope you enjoy.

Supplies

Ingredients

  • 1 Chicken breasts
  • Seasoning of your choice
  • Oil (I am using avocado)
  • 1 Cup of black beans
  • 4 Cloves of garlic
  • 3 Small tomatoes
  • 2 Limes
  • 1/2 A red onion
  • 1 Jalapeno
  • 1 Cup of lettuce
  • 1 1/2 Cup of brown rice
  • 1/2 Cup of shredded cheese
  • 1/2 Avocado

Cookware

  • 1 Nonstick pan
  • 2 Cutting board
  • 2 Spatulas
  • 2 Knives
  • 1 mixing bowls
  • 2 Serving bowls
  • 1/2 Cup measurement
  • 1 Cup measurement
  • 1 Tablespoon measurement

Prepare Chicken

Slice and season your chicken on both sides. Make sure to use separate cookware on raw chicken. I used salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chill powder, and cumin. You can use whatever you want!

Cook Chicken

Cook your chicken on medium heat, 5 minutes on each side. I cooked mine in avocado oil.

Prepare Tomato

Wash, take out the seeds, and dice your tomatoes. I used small Roma tomatoes

Prepare Onion

Wash and dice your red onion, or whichever onion you feel like using.

Prepare Jalapeno

Remove the seeds and de-vein your jalapeno. Once you have done that dice it up.

Slice Lime

Slice your lime in wedges.

Mix Pico De Gallo

Add all of the ingredients in a bowl adding garlic and mix.

Cut Lettuce

Slice you lettuce in shreds, I used iceberg but you can use whatever you feel like!

Cook Rice

Cook you rice following its directions, I used Trader Joe's brown rice.

Heat Up Black Beans

Drain and heat up black beans, or whatever beans you want.

Slice Avocado

Cut and slice your avocado.

Assemble Bowl

Add all of your ingredients into your serving bowl. I like to start with my rice, beans, and lettuce. I top it all off with the Pico De Gallo, cheese, and add the chicken right on top!

Enjoy your bowl! This bowl is great to bring with you your whole life, it can change as you want. These are great to make for big parties or family gatherings. The will nourish you and still taste very yummy.
