How to Make a Sword Pendant
How to make a tiny sword pendant in a few easy steps.
Supplies
- Finishing nail
- Wire
- Brown or black thread
- Super glue
- Wire loops for a necklace
Forge the Sword
This sword doesn't actually need to be forged with heat. The finishing nail is so small and thin that it can just be hammered flat on a hard surface. When hammering, leave the head of the nail intact, as well as some of the nail near the head. This will later serve as the handle and pummel.
Sharpen the Sword
Using a file, sharpen the edges of the blade, sloping down from the middle towards both edges. Obviously you can't sharpen it too sharp, if you plan on wearing it.
Making the Guard and Handle
To make the guard, first cut a piece of wire about an inch long. Bend it half, using pliers to smash down the edge. Then cut the piece to the right size, so that an equal length sticks out from the blade. Next, slide the blade into the loop of wire and glue it in place. For the handle, just wrap it in brown or black thread, making sure all the metal is covered.
Finishing Touches
The last step is to super glue a wire jewelry loop onto the back of the pendant.
