How to Make a Stuffed Bunny
This will show you how to make a stuffed animal bunny! I use this method all the time and once you get it down it is pretty easy and fast. You can get really creative and fun! If you would like to purchase one you can visit my Etsy page AJscraftstore.
What You Will Need.
- one yard of fabric of your choice
- scissors
- sewing machine
- black fabric/felt or buttons
- thread of chosen color
- sewing needle
- stuffing
- pins
- pattern (I use Simplicity pattern #8044)
- yarn (optional)
Let's get started!
Cutting Out the Pattern
If your pattern is not cut out, cut it out. Fold the fabric of your choice in half. Next, line up your pattern, that says front, with the fabric and pin the pattern onto the fabric (this will be your front half of your bunny.) Repeat for the back half of the bunny, with the pattern that says back. Now take your fabric scissors and cut along the pattern pined to the fabric.Unpin the pattern from the fabric.
Sewing the Front and Back of the Bunny
Make sure the good side is inside the bunny. Take your cut out fabric and sew along the edge of the bunny front and back. This is hard to explain, so I recommend looking at the photos for help. Basically, from the point of the head down the back and stopping at the start of the legs. This is a very important step, it helps form the bunnies shape and nose.
Sewing It
Lay out the front and back of the bunny and pin them together. Make sure that the right side is inside and they are touching on the inside of the bunny. The bad side should be outside. Sew around the edge, but leave about a five inch hole in the bottom near the tail of the bunny.
Stuffing It & Details
Fold it inside out and stuff the bunny. Fix any holes there may be at this point. When you are done stuffing it, sew up the bottom of the bunny were you put the stuffing in. Next, cut the (black) felt or fabric in two circles and one triangle. These will become the nose and eyes. Sew them on. Make a yarn puff ball with any yarn you chose. What I do is I wrap the yarn around four of my fingers about twenty times. Then cut it off. Next I get a piece of yarn that is one foot long and remove the fabric from my fingers and wrap the one foot long yarn around once vertically. Tie a very tight knot. Last, cut the lose ends of the yarn, not the center piece. This will be a tail. Sew it on. Now if you chose add a bow and your done!
