How to Make a Stand for Your Eyewear

Today I'll show you how to make a stand for your eyewear. I pursued this project because when I was at home I would always leave my glasses somewhere random and forget where they were.

The most importing thing you need to have is a laser cutter for the wood. Wood glue is going to be used for wood joining. You can use paint of your choice, I chose brown. Grab some paintbrushes. And finally, use sandpaper to smooth edges on the wood.

Download the shapes given here and cut them out on your laser printer. These prints were made in mind of using thick basswood plywood, although it should work with any other type of wood.

First thing first, you must sand your small rectangle pieces, the only side that matters is the one that is going to touch the glasses.

After they get cut, take them out and start using your wood glue. First, I recommend to start off with rectangles and set a heavy object on them so they set still while the glue sets. Let the glue rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour. do the same thing with every other piece you have. Make sure with the 2 small rectangles that they make a triangle shape, I don't have an efficient way to set them mess free but I recommend pinching the 2 tops of the rectangles so they stay still, do that for 5- 10 minutes.

I didn't record images of these because I forgot but all you have to do is use your wood glue on all your pieces. I recommend for when you are going to attach the combined small rectangles to the base is that you glue the small rectangle bottoms and THEN apply them to the base. For the supports, just use a dallop of wood glue and put them at the bottom of the base. Let everything set for 1-2 hours.

I did very small amount of painting because I'm not an artist but I liked the way it came out. I couldn't find a painting pallet for the paint as there wasn't any left. I used the black paint on the sides to cover up the burnt wood and the brown paint for everything else.

Let your paint set properly until the smell of the paint is gone so it doesn't bother you. Aside from that, I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and had fun doing it! Cya :)
