How to Make a Stamp in Procreate

Here I teach you 2 different ways to create a stamp brush in Procreate on the Ipad.

Finger or Stylus

Procreate App

   Open the Procreate app (available only on Ipad).

   Tap the plus sign in the top right corner of the screen.

  Tap the Square sRBG 2048 x 2048px option from the drop-down list.

Tap the round circle in the top right corner of the blank canvas screen that is filled with a color.

1.     If it doesn’t automatically open the color wheel, click the Disc option on the bottom left of the color options pop-up.

2.     Double tap the bottom middle of the smaller colored circle in the center of the larger circle where the color is the darkest shade to select True Black.

3.     If that doesn’t work, select the value option from the bottom of the pop-up screen. In the Hexadecimal box, type in “#000000” and hit enter.

1.     Tap the Brush icon on the top right side of the screen to open the Brushes Menu.

2.     You can choose any brush to draw with but I suggest using the Monoline Brush from the Calligraphy brush folder for sharper lines.

3.     Choose the size of your brush stroke by sliding the top Slider in the middle of the left side of your screen.

4.     Adjust the Opacity of your brush by sliding the bottom slider in the middle of the left side of your screen. I suggest using full opacity (dragging the slider all the way to the top).

There are two options for creating a stamp from this point; if one doesn’t work for you, try the other option. Make sure your image is on one single layer and that you have that layer selected.

Option 1

1.     Using three fingers, place them on the screen at the same time and slide them down until the Copy and Paste menu pops up.

2.     Click “Copy All”

3.     Tap the “Brush” in the top right of your screen.

4.     When the brush menu opens, tap the plus sign in the top right of the brush menu. The Brush Studio menu will appear.

5.     In the Brush Studio menu, Tap “Shape” (the 4^th option down on the left of the screen)

6.     Tap “Shape Source” on the right side of the screen under the brush stroke preview panel (the first option on the right side of the screen with a small white circle in the right side of the menu)

7.     Tap the “Import” option from the top left side of the screen. The Image Source Options Menu will open.

8.     Tap the “Paste” option from the very bottom of the Image Source Options menu list. Your Copied drawing should show up in the Middle of the page. (If this doesn’t work refer to option 2.)

Option 2

1. Click the wrench icon from the top left side of the canvas screen.
2. Click the Share icon from the top middle of the Actions Menu that pops up.
3. Select the “PNG” option from the Share Image Menu.
4. Select “Save Image” from the 3^rd menu down.
5. Tap the “Brush” in the top right of your screen.
6.  When the brush menu opens, tap the plus sign in the top right of the brush menu. The Brush Studio menu will appear.
7.  In the Brush Studio menu, Tap “Shape” (the 4th option down on the left of the screen).
8. Tap “Shape Source” on the right side of the screen under the brush stroke preview panel (the first option on the right side of the screen with a small white circle in the right side of the menu).
9. Tap the “Import” option from the top left side of the screen. The Image Source Options Menu will open.
10. Tap “Import a photo” from the Image Source Options Menu.
11. Choose “Photos” from the left menu of saved file location folders.
12. Choose the saved copy of your image.

1.     Using two fingers, tap the image to invert it. This with turn the background Black and the Lines of your drawing White.

2.     Tap Done in the top right corner of the window,

3.     Select “Properties” from the Brush Studio menu.

4.     Change the Maximum Size to maximum by sliding it all the way to the right. This controls how large your stamp can be.

5.     Choose the “Stroke Path” Option from the left Brush Studio menu (the top option)

6.     Slide the “Spacing” Slider all the way to the right to Max Spacing. This ensures you will only get one image with each tap of the screen. You can change other options within these menus to adjust all properties of your brushes and stamps, customize them to your liking, and name them via the “About this brush” option in the Brush Studio Menu.

7.     Select the “Done” option in the top Right of the screen.

8.     Ensure that your brush has been saved by clicking the brush icon in the top right corner of the canvas screen.

* It will show up in the Calligraphy menu if that is the brush folder that was open when you selected the plus sign in the corner of your screen in step 16. If the brush doesn’t appear in any of the folders, try again or create the brush using option 2.
