How to Make a Self Watering Planter Box Out of a Dish Wash Liquid Tub.



we made 3 self-watering planter boxes which we filled with a variety of plants
Supplies
- PVC pipe
- dish wash tub
- dirt
- plants
- hot glue
Cut Off the Lid

cut the lid off your container around 5cm from the top with a saw
Making the Water Resevoir


place the lid that you just cut off your container at the bottom of your container it should fit perfectly this should act as a water reservoir if you want a bigger reservoir place the lid the right way up.
Putting Pvc Pipe In

hot glue the PVC pipe where the hole is it should already be there from where the cap is if it isn't make a hole. make sure the pipe fits into the water reservoir (the lid).
Adding Holes for Water to Escape Into the Soil


drill any size hole small enough to not let any soil trough into the top of the reservoir and a few on the pipe
Filling the Box

fill your planter box with dirt and fill it to 4cm from the top and put plants in the dirt
Fill With Water
fill with around 7 litres of water
Optional Making a Water Moniter

hot glue a ping pong ball onto a bottom of a stick and make marks with a pen every centimetre to see how much water has been lost
