How to Make a Rough Hewn Office Table

How To Make an Office Table for $100

You can make your own rough hewn office table, that looks like you bought it from Pottery Barn, for about $100 with regular hardware store wood and this process. Steps given below, with pictures. Click on picture above to see the five minute video version.

Supplies

Fir 2x6s, Screws, Glue, Drill, Drill bits, screw tip, square, tape measure, chainsaw, sander, circular saw.

Build Top

Make the top out of 2x6s cut to the length of table you want, and glued and screwed together, side by side, to the width you want. Plug any visible screw holes by gluing in a dowel rod and cutting it off flush.

Rough It Up

Skim the wood with a running electric chainsaw, then sand with a 50 grit sander to remove frayed wood.

Build 4 legs, and use the same process on them.

The result, should look like the last picture in this step.

Stain and Assemble

Paint stain onto all roughed surfaces and wipe excess off with paper towels.

Screw each leg onto bottom of table with 4 screws, at 45 degree angles into the table top.
