I wanted to make a women's suffrage brooche, the ones I saw online where made from ribbon so I thought I'd share the process of how to make them.
It's very quick, taking a hour or so to complete.

Supplies

Ribbons of your choosing,
Buttons the colour of your choice,
Needle,
Thread in the same or similar colours of your ribbon.
Safety pins

Make the First Circle

Make the first circle by folding the ribbon over to form a pleat, making sure the raw end of the ribbon is tucked away to avoid fraying.
Then continue the pleat by folding the ribbon over itself multiple times.

Sew Up the Pleats

Sew the pleats making sure to make sure each one is nice secure.
I left a little bit of ribbing hanging out as a tail, however if you like your can complete the circle

It may look a little messy in the middle at this point but don't threat, it will be covered by the button later

Continue to Add Pleats in the Different Colours

Add more ribbon in the same way as the first, folding it over, pinning it, ect, ect. Only making it slightly bigger. Making sure however that the ribbon shows on the front of the pin.

When sewing it on, try not to get any thread on the other colours.

Sew on the Button

Now on the middle colour, sew the button on, give it a good 3 to 4 stiches.
Now get a safety pin and sew it on, rapping the thread around it and going in and out the button holes.

And Your Done!
