Spooky season is here which means it's time for spooky movies, delicious snacks and a lot of pumpkin.I love pumpkin in every shape and form.I love decorating around the house with it,eating it and of course - drinking it.I came up with the idea of making pumpkin juice when I tasted the leftover sirupy deliciousness from some pumpkin I cooked. It tasted amazing! Then I remembered pumpkin juice was actually a very famous drink in the Harry Potter books and that's how the idea for this Instructable came to life.

This bottle is clearly not dishwasher safe but since Halloween is right around the corner I decided to make it as a prop or use it as a magical decor piece.

I took some inspiration for the design of my bottle from the ones in the Wizarding world of Harry Potter.Their bottles are brown but I decided to leave mine the way it is.I thought the color of the pumpkin juice would look great and it did.

Start out by thoroughly washing your bottle.I specifically chose this particular bottle because of its unique shape. The top and bottom parts resembled a pumpkin. It was from a chilli sauce so I made sure there was no residue left.Let the bottle dry completely.

To make the pumpkin cap take a small amount of polymer clay and roll it into a ball shape and then flatten it.Place the flat piece of clay onto the cap of your bottle.Repeat the same process but the second time around make the clay a little thicker.Using a tool connect the two pieces of clay.

To make the pumpkin ribs roll out the clay into a long thick strip.Pinch each side with your fingers.Next, carefully put the slightly flattened piece of clay onto the cap.Repeat this until you cover everything.

Using the same tool press inbetween each rib, making the pumpkin look more realistic.Smooth out any imperfect spots.

To make the stem roll out a skiny strip of clay.Pinch one side and cut to the length of your desire.Connect the stem to the pumpkin by gently pressing the edges with a dotting tool.

Once you are happy with the shape of your pumpkin, carefully take it off.Make sure that the bottom hollow part is not tighter than the bottle's cap and it can fit in it easily.Put the pumpkin cap it in the oven and bake according to the instructions of your clay.

Once the clay is cured, let it cool completely and glue the cap of your bottle to the pumpkin.Using some acrylic paint paint the pumpkin stem brown and the pumpkin itself orange.

I used hot pink clay because it was the only color I had.To skip this part you can use brown and orange polymer clay.

When the paint is dry apply a coat of clear glue to seal everything in place.

Designing the Label

This step was completely optional but I wanted to try to design my own version of the pumpkin juice label.I am clearly not a graphic designer but I love the way my design turned out.I wanted this project to have a spin and I created the label on Canva. You can feel free to use my design or the original design.

I made only one label, instead of two like the original design because of the textured top and bottom parts of my bottle.I couldn't glue anything since the surface was not flat.

Download the file and print out the pumpkin juice label.I used sticker paper.Stick the label to the front of the bottle, making sure it is centered.

Brew Your Pumpkin Juice

My pumpkin juice recipe is very simple and the end result - truly magical! It's full of cozy fall flavours that make you feel like you are in Hogwarts.

To brew your juice you will need:

  • 200 g pumpkin
  • 120 g apples
  • 2-3 tbsp of sugar
  • 1-2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1 l water

Begin by cutting the pumpkin and apple into small cubes.Transfer them to a pot. Cover the fruit with 1 l of water and add in 2 tbsp of white sugar, followed by 1 tsp of cinnamon.Let the mixture simmer until the fruit is fork tender.

Depending on your preference you can add in more or less sugar and cinnamon.

Let the pumpkin juice cool completely before you blend everything with a blender.

Enjoy it in a magical mug or in this case - your pumpkin juice bottle.

Serve in Your Bottle

Pour the pumpkin juice to your bottle and have fun sipping it throughout the day.The juice is full of natural flavors and vitamins and the bottle makes drinking this seemingly mundane juice a magical experience. This project is so simple and it's the perfect gift to any Harry Potter fan!
