How to Make a Pop Up Card

This pop-up greeting card was created as a thoughtful and creative way to celebrate someone special. Whether it’s for a birthday, a thank-you note, or just to brighten someone’s day, handmade cards add a personal touch that store-bought cards simply can’t match. The interactive element of the pop-up makes the card fun and memorable, while the time and effort put into crafting it show genuine care. This project is perfect for teens, young adults, or anyone looking to express themselves through a hands-on, artistic gift.
Supplies

- 1 sheet of colored cardstock (for the card base)
- 1 sheet of contrasting paper (for the pop-up interior)
- Pencil and ruler
- Scissors or craft knife
- Glue stick or double-sided tape
- Markers, stickers, or decorations (optional)
Setting the Card

Fold your cardstock horizontally (hamburger-style) to form a sturdy base for the card.
Prepare the Inner Paper

Fold the contrasting paper the same way. This will go inside and hold the pop-up design.
Mark and Cut Pop-Up Tabs

Draw two vertical lines (1" to 2" apart) from the folded edge and cut them about 1.5" deep. Fold the cut tab inward.
Pop the Tab Inward
Open the paper and press the tab inward so it forms a pop-out section.
Attach a Pop-Up Element

Cut out a shape (e.g., heart, star, flower) and glue it to the pop-up tab
Decorate the Inside
Use markers, stickers, or notes to decorate the card interior around the pop-up element.
Glue the Inner Paper Into the Card Base

Apply glue around the outer edges (not the tab area!) and press the folded inner paper into the card base.
Final Touches

Add a title or message to the front, sign your name, and embellish it however you like!
