Do you have a bunch of un-donatable clothes lying around?

Do you need a new pillow but can't afford one?

Do you wish to save your tattered underwear from entering the landfill and instead repurpose them?

Do you wish to be more eco-friendly?

You can! I will teach you how to make a pillow from old clothing scraps only using a pair of scissors, needle, thread, and old clothes.

Supplies

  • Scissors
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Old Clothes
  • Two pieces of cloth that are cut to almost the exact same size.

Step 1: Find a Clean Workplace.

I am using my living room floor.

Step 2: Gather Your Supplies.

Here I have gathered a pair of scissors, needle, thread, and old clothes. The two pieces of cloth underneath the scissors are going to be the case of my pillow.

Step 3: Thread Your Needle.

Grab the thread and slip it into the hole of the needle. Then unravel and pass enough thread through the eye of the needle so it is about a foot long. Cut the thread so and tie the loose ends together.

Step 4: Sew the Fabric Together

Grab the two pieces of cloth that are cut to almost the exact size of each other and sew them together.

Step 5: Repeat

Once you've reached the end of your thread. Simply cut it off, tie the end and repeat Step 4.

Step 6: It Should Look Like This

Your pillow should be almost fully sewn shut, however, leave a small opening so you can stuff your pillow.

Step 7: Make the Pillow Stuffing

Set your items aside. Now, place the old clothes that you plan on shredding in front of you. Cut your old clothes into small pieces, each piece should be small than the palm of your hand.

Step 8: Fill the Pillow and Sew It Shut.

Fill your pillow with your shredded cloth until it is plump to your liking. Then, finish sewing it up so there are no holes or gaps.

Step 9: (OPTIONAL) Trim the Excess Sides

Trim the excess sides that exceed past the sewing line so your pillow does not have rough, mismatched edges.
