How to Make a Paper Jack-o-Lantern for Halloween Emergencies
If there are no pumpkins at the store, try making this paper Jack-o-Lantern to save the day!
Supplies
Paper, green and orange
Fake tea light
Scissors and/or X-acto knife
Tape or glue
Pencil
Markers may be needed also
Making the Pumpkin
First, decide what sides will be the inside/outside sides. Then tape/glue the papers together, as shown. The taped/glued sides should be the inside of the pumpkin.
Making the Face
To make the face, flip the paper so the outside is facing you (and the tape is on the inside), as shown. Then, draw a face on the paper. After that, I would recommend punching a small hole with the scissors to start cutting. Skip that if you have an X-acto knife.
Finishing the Face, Part 1
Then, make the papers into a tube shape, with the tape from earlier inside the tube. Then tape/glue the tube together, as shown.
Fininshing the Face, Part 2
To make the top of the Jack-o-Lantern, cut a piece of orange paper, place it on the desk, then flip the pumpkin upside down, onto the paper, and trace the top of the pumpkin onto the paper. After that, cut the paper along the lines, and tape to the pumpkin, as shown.
Making the Vine
To make the vine, start by cutting a small rectangle of green paper. Then roll the paper into a tube and tape/glue. Then, you can ither use double sided tape, or glue, and glue/tape the stem onto the pumpkin. To make the vine, cut a long, slim piece of paper and roll it up. Then, grab both ends of the paper and pull the ends in opposite directions, until it looks similar to the picture. Then tape it onto the stem.
Enjoy Your Jack-o-Lantern!
Now, put a fake tea light under it, and it's all done!
Happy Halloween!
