How to Make a Longboard Hanger

The Longboard Hanger is a tool to hang your longboard up in your room to keep the dirty wheels from scuffing your hardwood floor or tile and getting carpet dirty. The hanger is made to look like a hammer that is hung up when your longboard is not there.

Supplies

Materials:

Wood glue LOCTITE super glue gel Wood stain natural #20 wood biscuit Q4 Sandpaper (various grit) Wood Screw #10 x 2-½ Q4 Walnut 0.25” x 5.5” x 2’ Q1 Walnut 0.75” x 1.5” x 48-½” Q1 Mahogany 0.75” x 5.5” x 2’ Q1 Mahogany 0.75” x 2.5” x 2’ Q1 Tools: Safety glasses Tape measure Speed square Pencil and Sharpener Drill bit 9/64 Drill bit 13/64 Drill bit 1/4 Drill bit 3/8 Philips head driver bit Drill Wood clamps Biscuit jointer Miter saw Vacuum Sander Extension cord Scrap wood 0.75” x 5.5” x 14.75”

1. With the Miter Saw Cut the Following Pieces to Length:

HammerHead:

- Cut 1 Mahogany 0.75” x 5.5” x 2’ to a length of 15”

- Cut 1 Walnut 0.25” x 5.5” x 2’ to a length of 15”

Hammer Hooks:

- Cut 1 Mahogany 0.75” x 2.5” x 2’ -0rnju8\into two lengths of 6” in length

- Cut 2 Mahogany 0.75” x 2.5” to .5” with one edge cut at a 45-degree angle

2. Assemble the Hammer Head to the Handle

- Mark the HammerHead sections for the biscuit cuts

- Cut four biscuit cuts

3. Assemble the Hammer Hooks

- Drill two 13/64th holes per-hook ½ inch in from the edge and end

- Align the hooks against the Hammer and drill two 13/64th holes into each Hammer ends

- Apply wood glue to the hammer end and hook and attach the hook to hammer end Wood Screw #10 x 2-½ Q4

- Apply wood glue to the Hammer Ends and Handle insert biscuits

- Attach the Hammer Ends to the handle

- Remove excess glue with a damp cloth

- Apply glue to the face of the HammerHead

- Apply the Walnut 0.25” x 5.5” x 2’ Q1 to the hammerhead and the handle

- Put the Scrapwood 0.75” x 5.5” x 14.75” on top of the Walnut and clamp in place

- Let the wood glue dry for 24 hours

- Remove clamps

- Glue Hammer Hook lips with Loctite super glue gel and let it dry for ten minutes

- Once everything is dry, drill two with a 1/4holes for the mounting screws, then countersink the hole with a 3/8 drill bit so the heads of the mounting screws are below flush.

4. Finishing

- Blend in the Walnut into the Mahogany with the sander and round off all edges

- Finish sand all surfaces

- Wipe off dust.

- With a clean cloth, apply the stain to the Hammer.

- Once the stain has been applied, hang the Hammer to dry.
