How to Make a Leather Journal

This was my first time to make such kind of leather journal, it took me some time to figure out the sewing, and I am happy with the result, hope you guys too.

Materials and Tools

  • leather
  • journal inserts
  • needle
  • thread
  • hammer
  • punch
  • cutter
  • ruler-scissor

Make the Leather Cover

Punch holes in the leather according to the Hole Punching Diagram.

Prepare the Inserts

Use the same way to punch holes in the journal inserts.

Sewing

Put the rough side of the leather up, pass the needle through the 1st insert and hole A1, stitch back through the hole A1 and leave a loop on the smooth side, then stitch A2/A3/A4, and B4/B3/B2/B1, C, D, E.

Make a Leather Strap for Closure

Cut a long leather strap to use to close the leather journal.
