How to Make a Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cup
Hello, in this episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, I will show you how to make an amazing Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cup. It is super easy to make, and super delicious! Perfect for Valentines Day or any special occasion. Or if you are a chocolate addict like me, then every day is a good day for one of these! :) Click on the picture to watch the video tutorial, or follow the steps below:
Ingredients
1/2 package of milk chocolate candy melts or about 6 oz. You can use dark chocolate, or white chocolate as well.
Peanut Butter Filling - You can review my instructable on how to make the Better then Reese's Peanut Butter cups to find that, but essentially it consists of (1/4 cup of peanut butter, 1 Tbs of butter, 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/4 to 1/3 cup of powder sugar - all combined)
White chocolate candy melts
Tools used:
Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
Put Cookie Cutter Heart on Parchment Paper
First we will take our cookie cutter heart and place it on parchment paper.
Melt Your Chocolate
Now we need to melt our chocolate. I melted it in the microwave on hi, for 30 seconds, then stirred, then 20 seconds, then stirred.
Pour Bottom Layer of Chocolate
Now we need to pour in our bottom layer of chocolate. Fill it up according to how thick you want the bottom layer to be.
Spread Out Chocolate
Now we need to spread out the chocolate so it is nice and even. Then we place it in the refrigerator to set, about 20 mins or so.
Add Peanut Butter Mixture
Now we need to add our peanut butter mixture (1/4 cup of peanut butter, 1/4 to 1/3 cup of powdered sugar, 1/4 tsp of salt, and 1 Tbs of butter - I have made it without the extra salt and the butter, and it still works great). First we will form a bit of a heart shape in our hands and then place it on top of the bottom layer of chocolate and spread it out with our fingers.
Peanut Butter Spread Out
Here is what it looks like with the peanut butter mixture spread out.
Add Top Layer of Chocolate
Next we will add our top layer of chocolate. One thing you can do as well is use a different kind of chocolate for the top. Mix it up! Once the top layer of chocolate is on there put it in the fridge to set. 15 to 20 mins or so.
Remove the Cookie Cutter
Now we remove the cookie cutter from the giant peanut butter cup. It is done! You can add a design if you like with more chocolate.
Add Design
On this one, I added a design of white chocolate. After adding that design, I placed the peanut butter cup back in the fridge to set.
Cost Break Down
These are very cheap to make. The costs will vary depending on where you live. Enjoy!
