How to Make a Healthy Popcorn

Making healthy Popcorn - Sweet tooth Cures - Part 2

Directions for Cooking Healthy Popcorn:

Cooking popcorn in a Pot:

  • Put 2 – 3 tablespoons of coconut oil to thinly cover the bottom of the pot.
  • Heat on medium flame.
  • Test the heat of the oil by putting in 1 or 2 kernels in the pot. When they pop, you know its ready. (Don’t change heat from medium.)
  • Once ready, put enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pan. (About 2/3 cup)
  • I also like to add Rosemary and Himalayan Pink salt into the pot
  • Cook at medium to high temp with the pot covered until they have almost stopped popping.

Use healthy organic heirloom ingredients. (This insures it is non-GMO and has no chemicals) Organic heirloom, non-gmo popcorn. Heirloom means it is from a particular ancient grain that has not been hybridized. These taste better, pop more and doesn’t put the hull in your teeth and gums. I like “Tiny but mighty” popcorn because it is: Whole grain and kosher certified, gluten free, no pesticides. Although they are not certified organic, they only use organic practices and no pesticides and are non-GMO certified. And it is an open pollinated heirloom corn. With not cross-contaminated with any other corn including any GMO so there is no risk of GMO. -

What to Avoid:

- Avoid all popcorn that does not say Non-GMO certified and always get organic to avoid this, since over 90% of corn in the US is GMO. - Avoid all microwave popcorn. See some of the very unhealthy ingredients found in microwave popcorn in this picture:

Slide12 - Even if the nutrition label on your favorite popcorn brand reads "0% trans fat," you may want to take a closer look. Any hydrogenated oils on the label indicate the presence of trans fats. The loophole? If it's less than 0.5 percent, food manufacturers don't have to post trans fat percentage on the label.
