How to Make a Headband
Hi my name is Jessica. I have been making these headbands since 4-H livestock shows when I had to hurry and do my hair on the go. We all know the old t-shirts sitting in the closet collecting dust with no use. So today I will be showing you how to make a purpose for the old t-shirts by making a cute headband. My 4-H members have really enjoyed the headbands that I have made for them.
Supplies
- T-shirt
- scissors
- Hot glue gun
- sowing stuff
First, I’m going to lay the shirt on the table. Make sure the shirt is flat on the table with no wrinkles, that way the strips are straight and even. I am going to cut off the bottom seam of the shirt. After I get the shirt straight and cut off the bottom seam, I am going to fold it in half. Then I will cut 3 stipes that are a 1 ½ inch strips.
After I have the 3 strips, I will unfold them and stretch them out. After I stretch the 3 strips out I will gather them up and cut both sides of the 1 ½ pieces to break the circle. After that you will have 6 total strips of shirt in front of you. I will make two piles and there will be 3 pieces in each pile.
Then I will take one pile, it doesn’t matter which one, and I will fold the pile that I grabbed into a so-called loop shape. Then I will take the other pile and then make a “u” shape on top on the loop shape that I made before. Then I will one end of the “U’’ shape and one end of the loop shape and I will put the ‘’U’’ shape under the one of the loop signs. Then I will take the other side of the ‘’U’’ shape and put it under the circle of the loop.
After I have all of that done, I will take the first ‘’u’’ piece I grabbed and put that over the side of the side of loop and then under the other side of the ‘’u’’ shape and then over the other side of the loop. Then I have the 4 ends sticking out and it will kind of look like an “x” with a knot in the middle. I will pull the 4 ends to make the knot tighter. Then I will cut a 2 little rectangle out of the left-over t-shirt and one big rectangle. Then I will stretch all 3 of them out and they will roll up.
Finally, I will put hot glue on both ends of the six pieces that are tied in a knot and then take the two little rectangles that are all rolled up and glue them on to each side. I will then cut off the extra-long pieces so they all line up. I will then take the big triangle and fold the short sides in and I will hot glue the sides of the head bands onto the big rectangle. I then will take the long sides of the rectangle and fold them in and then hot glue them done. It is all done and ready to wear.
