Sorting the Supplies

IMG_1524.jpg

First things first, to keep your project nice and organized I would recommend sorting all of your supplies into bowls or laid out on a clean surface. You should start by unwrapping ,unboxing and unpack-aging all your items to get a better sight of what you have and where your materials are.

Creating the House

IMG_1536.jpg

Now that all of your materials are nice and organized, you are going to want to collect the items that came in the Gingerbread cookie kit, peel off any extra wrapping and cut a small hole in the frosting bag to allow frosting to come out. Once that is done slowly and carefully create a line of frosting on all four sides of all the gingerbread cookies to insure everything sticks well. Now that you have completed that step, take your piece of cardboard and place down the piece of gingerbread that looks the biggest towards the back center of the cardboard and make sure it is securely frosted down so it doesn't d slide or move on you. Next, I would recommend taking the triangular shaped side of the gingerbread house and attach it to the piece already set which I will refer to as your base. Then before you let goof the triangular side, connect the smallest piece horizontally to the side of it and hold until it feels like it will stay. Mirror this same process of the other side until it looks like you have the foundation of the house. Lastly take the biggest pieces of the gingerbread kit and lay them down horizontally. These pieces will act as the roof. Gently lay each piece on both side of the house at a diagonal angle hold it firmly together until the house feels stable enough top let go. Now your house should be complete.

Its okay if it looks a little messy : )

Frosting the Base

IMG_1539.jpg

Now the next thing I like to do is create a nice visual platform for the house to be on.The way I like to create this platform is with 3 simple steps. First take out your frosting from the frosting kit and gently open them, Then create streaks of different colors of frostings all about on the cardboard in which the gingerbread house should already be placed on. I did streaks of black then of \white and then some little streaks of orange. To blend this out to make a cool image, I used my knife and spread it around the now platform and continued to do so until it looked cool and i was satisfied.

Making Spiders

IMG_1542.jpg

The next step may seem a little tricky but in reality it is pretty easy. The materials you need for this are your four thin dark chocolate Reese's,Eight eye formed sprinkles from your frosting decorating kit and a tube black frosting provided in the kit. First use the frosting on the bottom of all four Reese's to help it stick to your platform. evenly spread out your recess on your platform. Next put two dots of your frosting ontoThe Reese's where you're going to put two eyes. Once you have completed that, add the eyeballs to each one, and grab your frosting again. You can make smiles, frowns or just straight lines underneath the eyes to create faces. My last step to making one of these spiders is to draw three lines coming from the spider on each side to create the look of its arms and legs. Once that is finished you'll have a delicious looking spider.

Candy Corn Pathway

IMG_1546.jpg

Now I am going to explain how to create a candy corn pathway leading up to the front of the house. First thing you want to do is take your orange frosting from your frosting kit and create two lines Coming from the gingerbread houses front side. Once those two orange lines are there you can start adding your candy corn in a line Just like demonstrated in my photo. Make sure to not be rushed during this part, since this can be messy if the candy corn is not placed down gently enough.

Decorative Sprinkles and Frosting

IMG_1550.jpg

After the candy corn pathway is completed the foundation of the project is completed. Now it is time to get fun and crafty. So now, take out the remainder of your sprinkles excluding the eye ones, and carefully spread them out in the middle of your pathway to get rid of any boring space. Now I took back my orange frosting from the kit and attached one of the piping options that seemed fitting. You can choose whichever one you like best and add it to the roof of your house to add more color and also add it to the back of your gingerbread house to give more theme. Lastly collect one of the unused eyeball sprinkles and some frosting and make a small dot with the frosting in the high up center on the front side of the house and add the sprinkle. These steps add more character and aesthetic to the haunted halloween gingerbread house.

The Final Touches

IMG_1559.jpg

Lastly, add the finishing touches. The gingerbread house kit includes sugar candy balls. Take the candy balls and carefully spread them out of both sides of the house, making sure to not make it look too messy. Next take out your two chocolate animal crackers and plant them in the orange frosting towards the back of the house. One on each side. The final thing you need to do to complete the Haunted halloween gingerbread house is take your two muddy bite cones and smother the open part in frosting and add just enough that it seems like it will stick to the sides of the home. Now place one cone on each side to create an illusion of a monster's horns. This looks very cool with the eye in the middle. Once that is done you have completed this project.

I hope you enjoyed the process of making this spooky sweet halloween treat. ;) !

Happy Halloween my friends.
