There was a desire to develop a money box with an unobvious opening mechanism. And here is the result!

Supplies

  1. 3 mm or 4 mm plywood - the piece is approximately 40 by 40 cm
  2. Laser engraver with a field of 40 by 40 cm (it is possible and smaller, but you will have to make a new layout)
  3. Super glue with activator
  4. Two small 2 mm screws
  5. A pair of toothpicks
  6. Paint
  7. Hands that grow from the right place and patience

First, cut, sand, and if necessary, paint the details. You can buy the file here

I use paint for coloring CLOU Rustikal-Effekt-Beize B4, 250 ml - 1706 Moorbraun

Stack the base of the box as shown in the pictures. You can use a little super glue. In order for the assembly to be as dense as possible, please read the recommendations on the link with the files.

Insert the 4 small parts from the bottom as shown in the pictures. Pay attention to the fact that there should be exactly 4 pieces of such details as in the picture. After that, you can finish assembling the base of the box

Glue two 4 mm magnets into the round holes of this part. It is important that the magnets are inserted with the same poles to the top (for example N)

Connect these two parts as shown in the picture. At the same time, use the 6 fasteners included in the kit (they look like rivets)

PANA1288.JPG

Paste a 4 mm magnet into this part.

Insert the long part into a similar groove in the base of the door. The bar should move and have 2 stable positions due to the adhesion of magnets

PANA1292.JPG
PANA1293.JPG

Turn the door over and glue the round parts as shown in the photo. There are holes in the center of the parts. I used them for precise positioning. You can also use toothpicks. Of course, the extra pieces must be cut off

It's time to use the 2 mm screws that I wrote about at the beginning. Screw the two levers as shown in the picture

PANA1297.JPG
PANA1298.JPG

Now take 6 small parts as in the picture. They need to be inserted into the door so that it turns out as in the pictures

Insert this small part into the long bar. It can be inserted only on one side. So don't worry too much

Now you can put on this round part as shown in the pictures.

These photos show how to install the door on the base of the box. Use toothpicks. Cut the rest. There is no need to glue anything here.

Time to glue the front part of the door. Use binders for precise positioning

PANA1308.JPG

Now insert the small part into the door. This is the future door handle

Close the door and lock the mechanism. Apply some glue to the white moving circle in the center of the door. Now glue the lion logo clearly in the center. There should not be a lot of glue to preserve the movement of the mechanism. After the glue dries, lift the logo up and the mechanism should release the door

Glue the slats and the handle. Almost done!

Paint everything that's left. Enjoy your work!
