How to Make a Fluffy Vanilla Cake
Craving something sweet? Let's bake a delicious, fluffy vanilla cake that’s simple and easy to make right at home!
Supplies
Ingredients and utensils/measurements used:
- 3 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 whole lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- Butter/flour for greasing the pan
Pre-Heating the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sifting the Flour
Begin by measuring three cups of flour and adding them to the sifter. Make sure there is a bowl underneath the sifter. After adding the flour, sift it into the bowl.
Adding Baking Powder
Add three teaspoons of baking powder to the sifter. After sifting the baking powder into the bowl with the flour, mix the ingredients together using a spoon.
Zesting the Lemon
Once you've finished with the flour and baking powder mixture, set it aside. Next, zest the entire lemon and set the zest aside as well.
Eggs
Crack four eggs into a separate bowl.
Whisking the Eggs
Whisk the eggs for about 5-7 minutes until they are nice and fluffy as shown above.
Sugar
Add one and 3/4 cups sugar to the bowl of whisked eggs.
Lemon Zest
Add the lemon zest you prepared earlier to the bowl that contains the sugar and whisked eggs.
Vanilla
Add one teaspoon of vanilla extract to the bowl with the eggs, sugar, and lemon zest.
Mixing
Whisk all the ingredients together for about 3 to 5 minutes.
Milk and Vegtable Oil
Add one cup of oil and one cup of milk into the same bowl and whisk for about 5 minutes.
Adding the Dry Ingredients
Begin by adding the bowl of dry ingredients (flour and baking powder) into the main bowl you have been working with. Start by adding one large spoonful using a spatula, then whisk it with a plastic whisk for about 3 minutes. Continue repeating this process until the bowl of dry ingredients is empty and whisked.
Greasing and Setting the Pan
Begin by greasing the pan with butter. Rub the butter all around the inside of the pan until it looks shiny. Once the butter is applied, sprinkle flour on all sides of the pan and shake it gently to ensure the flour coats the surface evenly, just like in the picture.
Applying the Cake Batter
Slowly pour the cake batter into the pan in a circular motion. As you add the batter, gently rotate the pan in a circular motion to ensure the batter spreads evenly.
Putting the Pan in Oven
Place your pan in the oven for about 50 minutes to an hour. However, depending on your oven's strength, it's advisable to keep an eye on it. Remove the cake when it has a nice brownish crisp on top, and avoid opening the oven door while checking, as this can prevent the cake from rising properly.
Cake Is Done, Enjoy!!
Remove the cake from the oven and let it sit outside for about 10 to 15 minutes to cool down. Once cooled, cut yourself a slice and enjoy it with a side of tea, coffee, or your beverage of choice!
