How to Make a Flower Vase
The challenge is to create a usable item out of something that has no use or has a different purpose into something new. For this I chose to look through items that were going to be recycled and reused them myself, giving them another purpose. In this case it was a soda can. The problems I faced while making this project was finding a way to make a flimbsy can durable enough to hold flowers. During this process I landed of the idea of chunky glitter that hardens with the glue providing decoration and extra support, unlike fine glitter which only served the purpose of decoration. The rough edges of the can that we cut off were a dangerous so I fixed this by covering the edges with ribbon which also looks nice.
Supplies
-Soda can
-Spray adhesive
-Glitter
-Chalk paint
-Chalk Marker
-Ribbon
-Scissors
-Knife
-Cutting Board
Cutting Off the Top
First, as demonstrated above, you need to cut off the top part of the can with a knife or tool of choice. Remember to rinse your can before you do this and you can also file the sides if desired for a stronger bond.
Glue & Glitter
Next, you will need to put adhesive on the sides of the can, making sure not to get glue on the inside of the can or the bottom. Then, you will need to take your glitter and evenly cover the sides of the can letting the glitter and glue dry onto the can.
Ribbon
Now take your ribbon and cover the jagged edges of the top of the can, securing it with glue.
Chalk Tag
Once everything is dry, take your chalk paint and paint over the can where you want to write a message. After this drys, you can write notes unlimitedly
