How to Make a Desk Organizer

While distance learning, I found myself not as organized as before. Papers were everywhere and pencils were on the desk. Everyday, after school, I would see paper that I finished stacked on top of another assignment. This led me to not being able to find certain papers for that certain assignment that I needed to finish. I realized that there wasn't much space to work in. Although I cleaned my desk when needed to, the same thing would happen again. I would see the same results, a month later. In conclusion, I decided I needed more desk organizers to organize.

This instructable will show you my process of designing the desk organizer.

Supplies

  • Autodesk Fusion 360

Research

When researching, I came across many desk organizers. I thought they all looked amazing! Although, they all looked amazing, they weren't the type of style that I was going for. It seems that most of the organizers that I found were in the center between the computer and keyboard.

Inspiration

I didn't just want an organizer that can store just my pencils, but chargers and earphones. The images that are included above show the exact color scheme I was going for. I think they suit the product that I'm looking forward to designing.

Sketching

The sketching that I drew shows many slots and drawers which can fill out many things such as my pencils and markers. I decided to make an area where I can store my chargers, earphones. This way I can be able to easily reach many things with just one product and will still be able to keep organized. My purpose is to be able to effectively help people organize using this product.

Making the Left Part

I modeled the left part of the prototype first. It is also the area that is used for storing the chargers and earphones. I decided to make the height not as tall.

Making the Center

I modeled the center of the prototype next. I decided to make four slots with two extra drawers below it. I thought this would be a good and reasonable amount of space for it to be filled with whatever you like. For instance, you can put post-it notes, you daily agenda, and more. For the drawers, I decided to make the handles as little tiny circles so it would be simple and not as complex.

Making the Right Part

Lastly, I modeled the right part of the prototype. During researching, I came across many designs that gave me inspiration of using this typical design. There were some flaws such as each slot being too small, which made me expand it later on. This part also has four slots. I decided to make the right part the same height as my center part because I thought that it would improve the aesthetic and quality of the overall prototype.

Assemble the Parts

This is the final assembly. I think this turned out well together!

Final Results & Conclusion

Here are the final results of each of the views of the prototype! I think this prototype will be reliable and provide more space available.

To sum up everything that I stated so far, I am glad that it turned out as I wanted it to. This prototype was made as a desk organizer for doing schoolwork but can also be used during your time organizing in the kitchen. I hope this will be effective and help improve organization!
