To start off, make two equally sized squares, one black, and one white. Then, place them side by side and join them using the Group tool. If you group them correctly, they should make a single rectangle. Next, select the rectangle and select Multicolor in the color section. Then, copy and paste the squares so that there are two pairs of squares. Next, select one of the square pairs and rotate it by 180 degrees. Then, select each pair and put one below the other to make a 2x2 grid. Select the 2x2 grid and press the Group tool. Next, copy that grid and paste it 15 times. You should result with 16 total squares. Now, connect the 2x2 grids together to create one big 8x8 grid. Select the entire checkerboard and press the Group tool. The checkerboard is now complete. Move your checkboard over and advance to the next step to learn how to make the checker pieces.

First, make a circle and a (hole) ring. Next, make the (hole) ring slightly smaller than the circle, overlap them, and group them so that the circle has a ring indent in it for design. Then, copy the circle and paste it 23 times. These are all of the checker pieces. Next, make 12 of the pieces one color and the other 12 pieces another color. The checker pieces are completed. Advance to the final step: Set up the Checkerboard.
