How to Make a Cardboard Bike Trailer
Hey there! Im going to show you how to make a cardboard and wood bike trailer for free if you have the stuff laying around. This is going to be for the wheels contest and me and my friend put almost a weeks work into this, so a vote would mean lots :)
CUT THE BOX
Slice a cut through the box so it becomes the image above, this is going to be the base for your trailer
FOLD THE BOX
Fold the cardboard box, this is going to be your base
CUT a HOLE IN BOX
Cut a hole in the box as shown, this is going to be where you store the stuff in that you're transporting (this will be painted later)
IGNORE STEP
We put newspaper on because we thought that paint going on tape would be have the same results as a marker on tape, this was wrong, so don't bother doing this
MAKE a LID
Getting a few pieces of cardboard you can make this lid, its done by putting two large pieces in front of each other and connecting it by thin cardboard (such as stuff from a cereal box) we put it on now, but just put it to the side as you can put it on after painting to save glue
PAINT
Paint your box your color of choice, we chose white because it was the only color we had access to at the moment
CUT OUT WHEELS
Using a spare piece of wood, you can trace circles on it and go around it with a jigsaw or a saw, after this, paint it whatever color you want
MAKING TRIANGLES
using a ruler, make 2 triangles, cut them out with a jigsaw or saw. cut out a hole in the center so that a wooden rod can move around freely
GLUING TRIANGLES
Using spray adhesive or hot glue, attach the triangles to the box, make sure you glue them to the bottom and make sure the rod will still go through as shown above
SECURING TRIANGLES
grab a piece of excess wood and place it in between the triangles as shown, this will help stabilize it as you put on the wheels
MAKING IT STRONGER
Using cardboard, make the pattern above, this will make it stronger and it doubles as little pockets to hold stuff in. After you have done that, get a piece of cardboard and place it on top of the pattern, only tape it on one side so it acts as a hinge to access the pockets
FINISHED!
After attaching the pieces together, it will be able to get onto the bike.
Thanks for taking your time to read this, if you enjoyed, leave a vote! Me and my friend worked hard for a week to get this so getting a prize would mean the world
