How to Make a 3D Pixel Art Model

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Wooden cubes (any size will do, but I used 1.5cm x 1.5cm)
  • Popsicle sticks (Cant be a bigger width than the cubes)
  • Wood glue
  • Paint + Paint brush (The best colors for this are blue or red)
  • Craft knife

OPTIONAL

  • Grid paper
  • Metal corner brackets (You can use Popsicle sticks, but metal ones would work better)

Cut Your Squares + Paint

I cut some squares out of wood and grabbed some Popsicle sticks. (Store bought cubes will do great)

I got my paint and started to paint the cubes and a few of the Popsicle sticks. For my design I needed 2 Popsicle sticks and 46 Wooden cubes.

Brackets

Out of the painted sticks you have, cut them into pieces that will fit onto your cubes and then slice down the middle without breaking it as shown above, then bend the sticks to make 90 degree angles

With your cubes, start to make your design, then on the parts up the top where the antenna are, place your corner brackets there, leave it to dry there, repeat this step for the bottom, where the feet are

Finish

Make the arms and legs according to the image above and you have finished your design! Leave it to dry overnight and it will be ready to put on your desk, wall or table!
