How to Make a 2 Minute Coffee Cake

Do you enjoy a nice cup of coffee? Me too! Do you like cake? As do I! What if we combine the two? Correct, coffee cake! A dish originated from Germany. Sweet, savory, and has a wonderful flavor! Without further ado, let’s begin!

Supplies

The ingredients you’ll need are butter, sugar, applesauce, vanilla extract, flour, baking powder and salt!

Step 1

In your favorite mug soften 1 tablespoon of butter, once softened stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar, next stir in your 2 tablespoons of applesauce, and add in a few drops of vanilla. (Adding extra won’t hurt, I know how people love their vanilla). Add in a ¼ cup of flour, ⅛ teaspoon of baking powder, and 1 little pinch of salt, make sure it’s well mixed. Then, use the back of your spoon to smooth it out at the bottom of your mug.

Step 2

My favorite part, the streusel! That wonderful layer on top that helps make this mugged cake more enjoyable. In a separate small bowl add 1 tablespoon of butter, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and finally ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. No need for utensils for this part, take your fingers and pinch them together. Once it looks lumpy enough, pour on top of the batter of the cake in the mug.

Step 3

Once you think you’re ready, plop it in the microwave for about 50-80 seconds. No more, or else it could overcook and that won’t satisfy you. I say 50 seconds so it’s well cooked and not overcooked. It mostly depends on how high your settings are on your microwave. Now take it out, let it cool, and enjoy your homemade coffee cake in a mug!
