An Instructable to easily and quickly create your own shaving soap ! An ecological, economical and enjoyable way of shaving !

Estimated preparation times : around 15 minutes

It’s a nice project if you already have supplies for making soap and you want to try something new. But it’s also very easy if you have never done soap before! It can serve as a very cool handmade gift for father’s day or as a christmas present.

Supplies

  • 100 grams of glycerin soap
  • 30 grams of surfactant. I use SCI surfactant, but others will probably work to.
  • 3 grams of castor oil
  • some perfuming drops (optional)

To prepare, you need :

  • two pots to do a bain-marie
  • spatula
  • scale
  • receptacle for your shaving soap

Fill half the big pot with water. Place the small pot so that it floats in the water. Turn on the heat.

Add the glycerin soap and the surfactant to the pot.

Heat them in a bain-marie. Melt them and stir frequently with a spatula.

In around 10 minutes, it will become a uniform mixture.

Add Castor Oil

Put the liquid soap in a container of the shape you want. I use the one that came with a store-bought shaving soap.

Let it dry for a day.

It’s finished !
