While I don't have a Youtube video for this one, I actually fell in love with these beads and have been wanting to make something with them for a while. I came up with these fun wire wrapped earrings. I had these Screw-back earrings that needed something special so I whipped up this little number. Literally took less than five minutes so lets get to crafting!

I will have a future Youtube video on this, but currently, it is anon.

Supplies

  • Crystal Beads
  • Earring jewelry pieces
  • matching jump rings
  • matching wire *the string is there in the picture for comparison*

hardware

  • wire cutters or scissors
  • jewelry pliers

EXTRA:

  • jewelry glue/ E6000
  • ruler

Picking Your Crystals

b2.jpg

It's super important to know what size you want for your crystals. You don't want them to be too heavy for your ears. Otherwise how else are you going to wear them?

Start this project by picking out the crystals that you like. They don't have to match but do make sure that you have two.

*NOTE* If you feel adventurous in this step after making your first pair, feel free to do multiple crystals.

Step 2: Wire Length

With your crystals now chosen, it's time to add the piece that's going to hold them together: THE WIRE~!

Grab your wire and measure a small length that can wrap around the crystal more than once.
Cut that two pieces of that length.

*NOTE* It is totally okay to have too much wire. You can totally use a ruler here to make sure you have the exact measurement of wire.

Step 3: Wrapping It Like a Present

Time to WRAP IT UP!

Since mine are beads, it's a tad easier. If they're not just hold on.
For those that are using beads like I am. Follow this:

  1. String the wire through the crystal bead.
  2. Make the bead the center of the wire.
  3. Twist one end of the wire around the crystal bead.
  4. Twist the other end of the wire the opposite direction.
  5. Twist the two wires together at the top of the crystal.

For those who are using just crystals follow this:

  1. Find the middle point of your wire.
  2. Firmly press the wire into the crystal holding them together.
  3. Use one side of the wire to wrap around the crystal to the top.
  4. Use the other side of the wire to wrap the opposite direction of the crystal to the top.
  5. Twist both wires together at the top of the crystal.

If you feel like the wire is a bit loose, add a tiny DROP of jewelry glue or E6000 to the bottom of the wire or any other connection points.

Step 4: Preparing Your Earrings

I have screw-back earrings so they're different from normal fish hook earring hangers. Do not let this deter you from completion.

Add a jump ring to your earring.

OPTIONAL: SPIRAL CURLLY TAIL

With one of the wire tails, I decided to turn it into a spiral for extra flare. It's optional.

This is definitely a medium difficulty and takes a bit to get right.. but if you're up for the task. Lets go~

  1. Take one of the wires of the tail and curl it with needle-nose pliers.
  2. Twist it until it becomes a closed loop.
  3. Using the pliers hold the loop at the very tip and slowly press the wire around the loop: NOT the pliers.
  4. Release the little loop, rotate the loop slightly holding the curve in place, and grab it again with the pliers.
  5. Slightly press the wire again around the loop not crossing any of the current wire thats inside the pliers.
  6. Repeat steps 4-5 until you have used up all the wire.

If you've done it correctly you've created a spiral!!!

Add Your Crystal to the Earring Piece

We're almost done last step!!!

  1. With one of your tails bend it in the middle to make a hook.
If you want your earrings to be longer bend the wire more at the end.
  2. String the jump ring connected to the earring to the bent wire.
  3. Bend the wire back into the crystal.
  4. Stuck the wire into some of the existing wrapped wire or twist around the top of the crystal if you have enough length.
  5. Cut off the excess.

Cruella Would Be Proud~! You've Finished the Project!
