How to Make Turmeric Spice Honey

Lots of folks are taking turmeric for anti-inflammatory support. But it tastes pretty strong by itself, and also needs to be taken together with a fat and a pepper in order to maximize its bioabsorption and effectiveness. I've created this recipe, combining turmeric with other medicinal spices and honey, that not only is delicious, but easy to take. Always check with your doctor before using turmeric or any other strong spice, to be sure that none of them interact with any medications you may be taking, and to ensure that your health condition is not adversely affected in any way.
All spices can be obtained from international grocers.

Supplies

Turmeric powder, 2 coffee scoops
Ginger powder, 2 coffee scoops
Cinnamon powder, 2 coffee scoops
Fenugreek powder (optional) 2 coffee scoops
Ashwaghanda powder (optional) 2 coffee scoops
Cayenne powder, approx. 1 teaspoon or to taste
White pepper powder, 1 teaspoon or to taste
1/4 cup raw honey, warmed so that it is more liquid
1/4 cup coconut oil, warmed so that it is liquid

Mix all powders together in a small bowl. 2 scoops of ginger & turmeric are shown here in my little bowl.

Now 2 scoops of fenugreek. You don't have to be exact.

2 scoops of ashwaghanda. Then the cinnamon. You can get these spices very cheaply in markets that carry foods from India.

This is the proportion of cayenne pepper, approximately a teaspoon. The amount of white pepper is approximately the same as the cayenne. You can add more or less of the two types of peppers, to taste.

Stir the warmed honey and coconut oil together. I used a honey jar.

Use a wide mouthed funnel to add the mixed powders into the oil and honey.

Stir everything together. It will be very thick. I used a metal butter knife to stir since the jar was narrow.

This mixture will keep for a long time in a jar with tight lid, without refrigeration.
Take a teaspoonful several times a day, or stir a teaspoonful into a cup of hot water for a lovely tea that soothes sore throats and tummy aches.
