Traditional almond wedding cake icing can be used for any occasion cake. Pictured here is a baptism cake. The almond taste is different from any other flavored icing and has been the traditional flavor of wedding cakes.

Place shortening, almond extract, and vanilla extract into the mixing bowl.

Using your electric mixer, cream the three ingredients together.

Add approximately 2/3 bag of confection sugar and 1/3 cup water. Mix until blended. Add remaining powdered sugar. Continue mixing until blended. If the icing does not blend together, add one tablespoon of water to icing and continue this process until the icing has a sturdy but creamy consistency.

When the icing is blended, scrape the sides of the mixing bowl with a spatula. This allows any powdered sugar to return to the bowl so that all the ingredients can be blended.

Continue mixing the icing on high speed for five minutes. The icing is complete! Good job!!
