Making Tea Cakes

Making tea cakes are fun for the family. Though, they can be a difficult to make such as not using enough sugar or over mixing your dough. I will provide you with easy instructions so that you can have perfect tea cakes each time.

How to Make Tea Cakes

Things You"ll Need:

1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg at room temperature

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1½ cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking soda

Stir together the flour, salt and baking soda in a medium mixing bowl

set aside dry mixture for later use

Add butter and sugar in a mixing bowl

Beat butter and sugar cream together on high speed until fluffy and smooth (about 4-5 minutes).

Add in one egg and vanilla extract and

beat until well incorporated

Add in flour mixture in intervals of three

Stirring after each addition to incorporate.

Remove dough from mixer

Add dough to a ziploc bag

Place Ziploc bag in your refrigerator for at least one hour to firm up dough

Remove Ziploc bag from the fridge (once firm)

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.

Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper

Spread cookie dough on cookie sheet

Pull portions of cookie dough apart

Roll into a ball

Place cookie dough ball on cookie sheet

Roll the rest of the dough leaving at least a 1½ inches between each dough ball

Press the center gently"with your thumb" to flatten the cookie dough

Put tea cake dough in oven

Bake for 9-11 minutes until golden brown on the edges

Remove tea cakes from the oven

cool for 5-10 minutes and serve
