Avengers Endgame is a huge action packed move that broke some records. With the addition of Thor’s axe, Stormbreaker, in Avengers Infinity War, I decided to try and recreate the weapon at home.

Supplies

Supplies for this project include:
Foam floor tiles
5mm craft foam
An exacto-blade
Brown duct tape
Silver spray paint
Hot glue gun

Printing the Templates

This whole project was inspired by the Odin Makes creation of Stormbreaker. He has a full video uploaded on his channel so feel free to watch it. The templates I used for this project fit on a normal sheet of paper, so you can just print them at home.

Making the Base of the Axe Head

Using the printed out templates, trace the axe head onto 3 pieces of foam. After you have finished, cut the foam pieces out. Next glue the 3 pieces together, making the axe head thicker.

Making the Back of the Axe

Start out by making 4 identical triangles with flat tops on 5mm foam. Next trace two of them onto foam tiles. Once everything is cut out, take the foam tile cut outs, and cut a triangle into them. Next glue them onto two of the 5mm foam. Cut out two rectangles ( the same size as the triangles with flat tops) and glue the other two 5mm foam triangles onto them. Next glue the pieces together, and add a square of foam on top. Finally add a 5mm foam circle to the top of the square.

Finishing the Axe Head

Take the base of the axe head and the back of the axe and glue them together. After that put the other template image onto a foam tile and cut out 2 copies. Glue them onto each side of the axe where the back of the axe and the base meet. Finally, add 5mm foam details to the axe.

Spray Painting and Drilling a Hole

In a well vented area spray paint the axe silver. Once the spray paint is dry drill a hole in the bottom of the axe head.

Using a heat gun bend your pvc pipe to have a slight curve. Stick the pvc pipe into the axe and mark how far it goes in. Cover the pvc in brown tape all the way up to the mark. Using 5mm craft foam, make a 3D shape similar to a funnel, and duct tape it brown making sure to tape the bottom so it is closed. Finally, hot glue it on the bottom of the pvc pipe.

Gluing the Axe and the Handle

Using the hole you drilled earlier add hot glue to the inside of the hole and insert the handle. If you have any questions regarding this project please let me know, I am more than happy to help!
