How to Make Star Wars Ships Using 3D Designing! (TinkerCad)

.PNG)

Hello there! This instructable will show the design process of making a Star Wars ship using a combination of Fusion 360 and TinkerCad. This is a pretty simple process, and I think you could easily try doing this for yourself, with some practice and some reference photos to base your ship off of. That's really all there is to it. Even though its simple, it did take time and effort to create it. This instructable will show my design of the Bad Batch Shuttle, which is also known as the Havoc Marauder. It is used by Clone Force 99, or also known as the Bad Batch. The ship is shown in the Clone Wars, and in the new show on Disney+, The Bad Batch. The 3d design is made up of the starship and the interior. I hope this instructable is easy to understand, and easy to follow! And I hope you enjoy!

Supplies
The only supplies you will need is an electronic device (preferably a computer), a TinkerCad and Fusion 360 account, and some reference photos!
Picking a Star Wars Ship

One of the best things about Star Wars and designing a starship is that there are so many to choose from! There are probably hundreds of different ships in the galaxy, and you could base yours on any of them. If you have seen my other instructable, you probably have seen the Millennium Falcon which I designed. And that's just one well-known ship. So, when you are trying to figure out what starship to design, try to find one that is common and well-known, and has a lot of photos.
Here are some websites you could find some lists of ships to base your design off of:

Finding Reference Photos

Finding reference photos can be one of the most important keys to designing the starship. Without having photos, it causes the design process to be harder, because you don't have anything to base it off of. So, this step is really important. For this particular starship, I could barely find anything to base it off of. So, I had to use whatever I had, and whatever I remembered from seeing this shuttle in the show to design it. For my other ships, I could find many things to base it off of, but this one wasn't the same case. But, it still worked out in the end. The pictures above was what I mostly used to design it.
Bad Batch Shuttle Overview

The Havoc Marauder was a Omicron-class attack shuttle that served as the personal starship of Clone Force 99, also known as the "Bad Batch." The craft was unique compared to other Grand Army of the Republic starships, so it was used for the Bad Batch's covert and undercover missions throughout the Clone Wars.

3D Design Overview (Exterior)

So, the pictures above are just multiple pictures of the ship frm all angles. As you can see, its not as hard of a ship to create like the Millennium Falcon, so its pretty beginner friendly. Most of the overall shaping was simple, and the experience needed is fairly little. It really depends on the 3d design platform you choose to use. TinkerCad is much simpler and beginner friendly, while Fusion 360 is more advanced. The only thing that might have been a little complex was the wings, but other than that, its a very simple design.
3D Design Overview (Interior)

The interior is the most interesting part of the design. The interior gives it more detail, and adds some character to the ship. You can obviously spends tons of time perfecting every little thing on the inside, but I decided to go much easier on this design, and show you what a simpler design would look like. Also, since I reaaly had only one photo to work off of on the interior, it made it kind of chalenging. But, I still think the interior is one of my favorite things when designing ships. So, for this starship, I decided to just add seats , some details on the floor and ceiling, and some control panels. That's pretty much all there is to adding a simple interior. Even thoughs its pretty simple, it looks pretty good in my opinion. I know for a fact I will be adding more details to the interior. I think its a pretty simple process to do, and adds much more detail to the design! The photos above show what it would look like if you were inside the ship, and give you some POV.
The Cockpit

This step is just showing what the cockpit is made up of. Like I said before, since its simple, there's not much to it, and makes the design way easier. The next two steps will show the process of making the cockpit, which is made up of the seats and the control panels.
The Seats

So, these seats might not be 100% accurate, but I still think that the look fine. The seats have been reused from other ships I have made, because many of the ships in Star Wars use similar seating. Since, I created this earlier, I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I'm pretty sure I used half spheres, rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, and a dice shape I found in the TinkerCad gallery. Overall these seats are really easy to design, and work pretty well.
The Control Panels

The control panel is a much harder process. Because of this, for your ship, you could easily find a control panel off of TinkerCad that people have previously made. Which is a much easier solution. Or, you could go the extra mile and make it yourself. It really depends on you. The pictures above were the ones I made for this ship, and will probably use for future ships.
The Main Interior

This step is just showing what the main interior of the ship is made up of. Like I said before, since its simple, there's not much to it, and makes the design way easier. The next two steps will show the process of making the main interior, which is made up of the seat, control panels, floor, and ceiling.
The Floor

The floor is most likely one of the easiest parts of this design. I first started off doing a plain floor, and then I noticed in the reference pictures that it actually had some designs on it. So I decided to add something simple, and I think it looks much better now. All I used were some rectangular prisms, and arranged them in the way shown above. After I did one side, I just duplicated it, flippiped it over, and put it on the other side. Overall, I think it looks pretty good, but still could be more detailed.
The Ceiling

This is even easier than the flooring. I just did a simple ceiling with 4 rows of lights. The lights are white, as shown on the reference photo. This part is really simple, and can easily be more detailed, if you put more time and effort. But, I wasn't really concerned with the ceiling, so I didn't add barely anything. But it works in the end.
Optional

This step is totally optional. And this is for the people with more time on their hands and some more experience. Like I said, this is a simple design, and nowhere near the detail compared to the Millennium Falcon I designed. So, if you want to, you could stretch your design and make make more details on the interior, like rooms, smaller details, and maybe even a crew! Its totally up to you and your imagination!
You're Finished!

And this is the last and final step! Taking a look at your design! I am happy with how this turned out, and I hope you liked it too. It took some effort and time, but I obviously think it pays off after you are finished. I will still be tweaking the design and making changes and adding things, so stay tuned for that. Otherwise, I hope you enjoyed reading through this instructable and seeing the design process of making a starship using 3D design. Just remember that your imagination can take you anywhere. And May the Force Be With You!
