How to Make Simple Valentines Day Roast Potato Hearts
Wondering what to make for that special Valentines Day meal this year? I don’t know about you but I always struggle to find good sides ideas. Well now that search is well and truly over! Cue these super cute & incredibly delicious Roast Potato Hearts. Did I mention they’re really simple to make too? Oh, and naturally gluten free. So what are you waiting for then?
Here is what you will need to serve 2-3.
- 600 – 800g Maris Piper Potatoes *
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tsp Dried Rosemary
- 1 tsp Onion Salt
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
Essential Equipment
- Large Baking Sheet
- Silicone Baking Mat or Baking Paper
- 5cm Heart Cutter
*Any floury potato will do. The final amount of potatoes may vary dependent on the size & shape of them (i.e. how many hearts you can get from 1 potato.)
Cutting Your Potatoes
Preheat your oven to 210°C/Fan 200°C and line a large baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or baking paper. Set to one side.
Firstly, cut your potatoes into 5mm (approx 1/4″) thick slices then, using your heart cutter, cut out as many hearts as you can. No need to peel the potatoes.
Repeat until all your potatoes are used up then place all the hearts into a large bowl.
Adding the Flavour
Drizzle over the olive oil, rosemary, onion salt & garlic powder. Get your hands in there and give it a really good mix until everything is evenly coated.
The Bake
Tip the potato hearts out onto your prepared baking sheet & spread out into a single layer. Try not to overcrowd the tray.
Place them into your preheated oven for 25 minutes. Turn them all over half way through the cooking time to ensure an even bake.
Tadah!
That’s it! Divide between plates or tip into a bowl and serve immediately.
See! Didn’t I tell you making Roast Potato Hearts was super easy?! Well now you know my secret. Go forth and create super delicious (and easy – shhhh, I won’t tell if you won’t) Roast Potato Hearts for the love of your life this Valentines Day.
