How to Make Pretzel Turtles
As a kid growing up, Christmas was time where my Mom make all the candy we had for Christmas; divinity, hard tack, peanut brittle, fudge, etc. I made them for my family only I raised picky kids, so they would not eat what I made. So I stopped making them, until I came upon these. These and the Chocolate/Carmel Covered Pretzel Rods (that’s a different Instructable) are the 2 things I make, that anyone will eat. Here we are at the Christmas season and I am making them again. They are so easy, even a candy making neophyte can have success and gain acclaim from those so enjoy these tasty little wonders. Enjoy
Supplies:
Butter snap pretzels (the ones that look like little window panes) or mini pretzels
1 bag of Rolos or carmel filled kisses
1 cup pecan halves or almonds or M&M’s
Oven
Timer
Cookie sheet
Hot pad

Unwrap each piece of chocolate, caramel goodness and place one on top of each pretzel, wide side down.
Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and set the time for 5 minutes. The chocolate should look shiny, but the Rolo hasn’t lost its shape
Push a pecan half into the middle of each Rolo. This will push the chocolate and carmel into the pretzel spaces.
Let sit until cooled and set. If you want to speed up this step, put them in the fridge or the freezer for a few minutes.
Done! Taste one; carmel, chocolate, salt, and crunch, YUM!
