What you need:
- Two pairs of jeans, a seam ripper, scissors, and a sewing machine.
Get Your Jeans
First, get out your two pairs of jeans. Start with the bigger pair.
Ripping the Belt
Get out your seam ripper and use it to rip open the bottom of each of the belt loops. Then, rip off the entire top part of the jeans. Save this part for later.
Rip the Seams
Now, rip the seams out of both sides of the jeans.
Onto the Next Pair
With the next pair of jeans, using the length of the first pair as a guideline, cut the legs out of the front of the jeans. Pin these to the sides of the first pair, and sew them on.
Cut the Legs Off the Second Pair
Now take the second pair, and cut the remaining parts of the legs off. With the shorts you just made, cut down each side and down the middle, so that the front and back are two separate pieces.
Connecting the Front Piece
Take the front piece and pin it to the back of the first pair, fold in the sides, and pin.
The Butt Step
Now, take the butt piece and rip the crotch area up a little so it lays flat. Then, pin it to the first pair.
More Sewing
Again, pin the shorts piece into place. Sew everything that you just pinned down.
Leftover Strips
Now, take one of those leftover leg pieces and cut an equal rectangle, fold it in half, and cut down the crease.
Connecting the Strips
Pin both strips to the opposite sides of the back of your overalls. After you try them on, connect each strip to a separate belt loop in front by cutting each strip and tying it to the belt loops.
Almost Done!
Now, take another leftover piece, cut two strips out of it, and gather the sides of the overalls. Then, poke a hole through all the layers of the fabric on both sides, and thread a strip through.
That's It!
You know have a homemade pair of overalls!
