How to Make Hot Chocolate for the Holidays

Holiday Hot Chocolate! // #DIYDecember Day 2

Everybody loves Hot Chocolate, but having the same old, plain hot chocolate can start to taste sort of bland. So I started to learn how to make a new kind of Hot Chocolate every year so I can expand my tastes and have some new rather than what I'm used to. If you love Hot Chocolate, and you love things that are spicy, than this is the holiday drink for you. ;)

Gather All Materials to Make Your Hot Chocolate.

You will need the following:

  • 3/4 - 1 cup of Milk (Any kind of milk will do).
  • 1/2 of Dark Chocolate Bar.
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Powder
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp Tajin Powder
  • Cookie Sticks of your choice (My favorite is the Hazelnut flavor).
  • 2 regular-sized pots
  • 1 Gas or Electric Stove
  • 1 Glass Bowl (To Melt Chocolate)

While the milk is heating up, pour water into a pot about halfway full, and put it on medium-high heat. Wait for water to boil.

*Make sure to keep an eye on your milk as well, not letting it burn.

Put Glass Bowl on Boiling Water Pot and Melt Chocolate

When water starts to boil, put a glass bowl bigger that your pot to make a double boiler. Put four blocks of chocolate into glass bowl and start melting chocolate.

*Melt chocolate until it's smooth and no longer chunky.

Mix Chocolate With Milk

When chocolate is completely melted, put on a cooking glove cause the bowl will be hot, and pour chocolate into the milk you boiled on the stove. Mix the melted chocolate and the milk with a whisk until fully blended.

*Leave some chocolate in the bowl to use for the next step.

Add Spices to Stick on Your Cookie Stick

Lay out a paper towel to put spices on. Measure cayenne powder, chili powder, and black pepper, and dump them on the paper towel. Mix spices together.

Take another clean paper towel and with the bottle of Tajín, dump some of Tajín onto the paper towel. Wipe the edge of the cup and flip the cup over. Put the cup into the loose Tajín powder so it sticks.
