How to Make Homemade Stain

Today I will show you how to make Homemade stain for wood.

What's Needed:

You will need a small jar of White Vinegar, it doesn't matter what Brand. A empty Mason jar, and some Steelwool, the finer the grit is better, like 0000 or 000. But i used some Number 1 and it works too.

Note I had the Number 1 on hand, if you don't have some on hand, buy the finer grit, it works better.

With the jar open, pull apart the Steelwool and place it in the jar. I used one full piece of Steelwool.

Note you might wear gloves when tearing the Steelwool apart, because it could cut you.

Poor the White Vinegar on top of the Steelwool.

Install the lid and let it set for a few days

This is what it looks like after a few days, the longer it sets the darker it gets.

The above picture of some wood that I have applied the mixture too. Some wood turns a very cool looking gray color.

Plus check out my Instructable Steelwool & Vinegar Testing, where I test Steelwool & Vinegar mixture on several different types of wood.

So be patient, it will get darker, plus use the finer 0000 or 000 Steelwool, it will speed up the process. Thanks for checking out this Instructable.
