Imagine waking up in the morning and inhaling a sweet, buttery, familiar smell. You immediately cross your fingers and hope it is what you think it is. You go downstairs to find pancakes! Breakfast memories from my childhood years are cherished and I hope that by sharing this recipe, others can enjoy the same memories I had. Today I'm going to teach you how to cook, prepare, and enjoy these delicious and easy pancakes.

Supplies

-1 cup measuring cap

-1/2 cup measuring cup

-tablespoon measuring spoon

-1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon

-1 teaspoon measuring spoon

-1/4 cup measuring cup

You will also need a whisk to mix, a spatula to flip the pancakes, and a skillet to cook the pancakes on.

Gather Your Ingredients

For this recipe you will need:

-1 1/2 cups of flour

-2 tablespoons of sugar

-1 tablespoon of baking powder

-1/2 of a teaspoon of salt

-1 1/4 cups of milk (dairy or non-dairy)

-1 large egg

-4 tablespoons of unsalted butter (melted)

-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

This recipe will make about 8-10 pancakes.

Combine Your Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, pour your measured amounts of flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder into a bowl. Then, whisk until the mixture is all the same color and consistency.

Warm the Milk

Pour the measured amount of your milk into a microwave safe bowl. Warm your milk in the microwave or on top of the stove for about 10 seconds or until warm. This will help prevent the batter from clumping once the wet ingredients are mixed into the dry ingredients.

Combine Your Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, pour in your milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Once again, mix fully until the substance is the same color and consistency.

Heat Your Large Skillet

Heat your large skillet to medium heat. Do this before you mix your batter together so it has time to heat up before you pour out your pancakes.

Combine Your Wet and Dry Ingredients

Make a hole in the center of your dry ingredients with your whisk or a spoon and pour all of your wet ingredients into it.

Mix Your Wet and Dry Ingredients Together

Mix the wet and dry ingredients with a whisk until the batter is all the same color and consistency. For example, if you had flour clumps in your batter, you would want to keep stirring.

Butter Your Skillet

Lightly brush your warm skillet with melted butter so your pancakes don't stick to the skillet.

Pour Out Your Pancakes

Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to pour batter onto the skillet. Gently spread the batter into a 4 inch circle. Repeat this until all batter is used. This recipe makes 8 pancakes.

Flip Your Pancakes

When bubbles appear on top of the pancake, use the spatula to flip the pancake onto it's other side. Continue this for all 8 pancakes.

Serve Your Pancakes

When the other side of your pancake is lightly browned (leave on skillet approximately 60-90 seconds), take your pancake off the skillet and put your pancakes on a plate. Serve with your choice of topping (I recommend syrup and butter).

Enjoy!
