How to Make Gluten-Free Buckwheat Pancakes/Waffles
Pancakes might be one of the best breakfasts ever (apart from eggs), and it is a shame not to be able to eat them because of being gluten-free. That is why today we are going to make gluten-free pancakes! I am going to use buckwheat flour because it is a very good replacement for wheat flour, and it is really healthy in itself.
Supplies
- 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
- 4 Cups Buckwheat Flour
- 6-8 Cups of Water
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Cup of Milk
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
Preparing the Ingredients
To start this off, in a separate bowl, add butter and let it melt. While waiting, add 4 cups of buckwheat flour to another bowl. If you need it, here is a recipe for buckwheat flour using the grains that I made: https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Make-Gluten-Free-Buckwheat-Flour/. Now crack the eggs into the buckwheat bowl. Make sure none of the eggshell parts come in (They're really annoying and hard to get out). After that, add the maple syrup and vanilla extract to the mix. This is to give some sweet flavor to the pancakes. Once the butter has melted, add it to the buckwheat flour.
Mix It All Together
We're almost done! Whisk and mix the buckwheat flour. This is so there are no lumps in the flour. While mixing, slowly add water and milk. If you are making waffles add more water to make it less dense. This is because buckwheat has more density than wheat.
Make the Pancakes and Waffles
Now we need to make them into actual pancakes. First, take out a skillet. Lightly butter the skillet. Then, slowly and carefully pour the pancake mix onto the skillet. Turn them over after a few minutes. If you are making waffles, butter the waffle maker, and pour it in. Now you're done! These are a great breakfast but can also be used as a snack.
