How to Make Gluten-Free Buckwheat Flour
Making gluten-free buckwheat flour is very essential in a gluten-free lifestyle. You can make things like pancakes and waffles with buckwheat flour. Making it can also be an unique experience for the whole family.
Supplies
- Buckwheat Grain (Hulled and Whole)
- Flour Mill
- Scoop
- Bowls
- Big Buckets
Getting the Grains
The first thing you need to do is get the grains, which we are getting from Azure, which is an organic farm from Oregon. Here is the link for the grains I got. Buying from a farm in bulk is much less in price than buying from a store. Once you order the grains, you'll need to wait a few weeks to get them. Depending on where you live, it might take some time to get there. To make things more enjoyable you can involve your family there.
Sort Through the Grains
Sometimes the grains might contain sticks, from the buckwheat plant, so you need to sort it. Sorting might take some time, so it is best to have someone help you.
Grinding the Grains
Now you need to make the flour. You need to put both hulled and whole buckwheat groats. You need to do that because whole buckwheat grains provide lots of fiber, but make things dry. Hulled makes it moist, but does not provide much fiber. The fiber is in the husks. With that in mind, it is best to use an equal amount of both. Make sure not to put much inside or the bucket overflows. Also, the video attached is the flour mill grinding the grains. With that, now you have fresh buckwheat flour. You can make many amazing things with this buckwheat flour, and you can brag to your friends that you made that from scratch!
