How to Make Four Different Types of Stud Earrings

This tutorial shows you how to make four types of wire wrapped stud earrings: three spirals and one bowtie. Enjoy!

Supplies

Spiral Earrings: Part One

Make a bend at the three-eighths of an inch mark with your wire. This is the stud part of the earring.

Form a loop with your round nose pliers at the bend in the wire, then keep spiraling until you've gone around twice. Trim the wire and hammer the ends so they're flat. Twist or pull on the stud back to make it springy. File the ends to make sure they don't poke anybody. Make the other earring the opposite of this one.

Spiral Stud Earrings: Part Two

Spiral the wire around and around until it touches itself. Trim the wire and hammer the earring. Twist or pull on the stud back to make it springy. File the ends to make sure they don't poke anybody. Make the other earring the opposite of this one.

Form a loop at the bend with your wire and tighten it so it's as small as possible. Spiral around and around four times in a tight spiral. Trim the wire and hammer the earring. Twist or pull on the stud back to make it springy. File the ends to make sure they don't poke anybody. Make the other earring the opposite of this one.

Just like with the third earrings, form a loop at the bend with your round nose pliers and spiral in a tight spiral. Spiral around three times.

Bend the wire approximately half an inch from the center of the spiral. Bend at a 45 degree angle. Go one half inch from the bend and bend again, 45 degrees. Do this two more times to form the bowtie. Make the other earring the opposite of this one. Trim the wire and hammer the earring. Twist or pull on the stud back to make it springy. File the ends to make sure they don't poke anybody. Make the other earring the opposite of this one.
