Today am sharing the pattern for a Simple Crochet Christmas Placemat. The colors used definitely speak Christmas. You can also crochet them year along with any choice of your yarn color to suit any occasion. This Christmas Placemat will be a beautiful addition to your holiday table.

4 mm Crochet Hook

How to Make Easy Crochet Christmas Placemats

Round 1:-

Start with a Magic Circle.

12 Double Crochets in the circle.

Pull the yarn end to close the gap.

Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.

12 Stitches.

Round 2:-

Chain 4 (the starting chain 2 will be considered as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 2.)

1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.

Chain 2

Repeat(1DC, Chain 2)

Slip Stitch into the Second Chain.

12 Double Crochet and 12 Chain spaces.

Round 3:-

Start with Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch). 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.

2 Double Crochet in the next chain space.

Repeat*(1DC,2DC)

Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.

36 Stitches.

Round 4:-

Chain 4 (the starting chain 2 will be considered as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 2.)

Skip 1 Stitch.

1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.

Chain 2

Repeat(1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)

Slip Stitch into the Second Chain.

18 Double Crochet and 18 Chain spaces.

Round 5:-

Start with Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch). 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.

2 Double Crochet in the next chain space.

Repeat*(1DC,2DC)

Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.

54 Stitches.

Round 6:-

Chain 4 (the starting chain 2 will be considered as 1 Double Crochet and the remaining stitches will be counted as Chain 2.)

Skip 1 Stitch.

1 Double Crochet in the next stitch.

Chain 2

Repeat(1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)

Slip Stitch into the Second Chain.

27 Double Crochet and 27 Chain spaces.

Round 7:-

Start with Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch). 1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.

2 Double Crochet in the next chain space.

Repeat*(1DC,2DC)

Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.

81 Stitches.

I stopped with the increase with this round. If you wish to make a larger size placemat, the keep repeating Round 6 and Round 7 untill the size needed.

The increase pattern will be as below:-

Round 8  -  1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)

Round 9  -  (1DC,2DC into the chain space)

Round 10 - 1DC, Chain 2, Skip 1)

Round 11 - (1DC,2DC into the chain space)....and so on..!!

Border:-

Chain 2.

3 Double Crochets in the same stitch.

Skip 3 stitches.

1 Slip Stitch in the next stitch.

Repeat((Chain 2, (1DC)*3)- all in same stitch, Skip 3, 1 SL in the next stitch)

Slip stitch into the first stitch and weave off.
