How to Make Custard
Often bored at home, people usually find themselves wanting to eat specific foods you could only find of high quality at restaurants. Being in that situation myself, I found a way to make my custard at home, which I had been craving for a while. Along with cinnamon's details, it makes the dish a very satisfying dessert and takes a maximum of 3 hours. Below are the steps and tricks to achieve this result.
Supplies
- 1 liter of milk.
- 2 eggs (You will use only the yolk)
- Corn starch.
- Measuring cup.
- Measuring spoon (optional)
- 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Vanilla.
- Boiling pan.
- Stove.
- 3 bowls.
Step 1: Mixture 1.
- Pour two cups of milk into the measuring cup.
- Then, pour the 1/2 cup of sugar, and half a spoon of vanilla.
- Leave this mixture alone until boiling time.
Step 2: Mixture 2.
- Crack the two eggs in a bowl, and take out the yolks using a spoon.
- Then, pour 1/2 cup of milk into another bowl.
- Put 3 tablespoons of corn starch and the yolk with the milk.
- Mix with a spoon until the mixture looks like the second picture.
Step 3: Boiling.
- Pour the second mixture into a boiling pan.
- Put the mixture to boil at slow (In my stove, I put it at 4)
Step 4: Mixing.
- Once your 2nd mixture has started cooking, pour the first mixture with it.
- Proceed to mix these two as it boils until the liquid begins to get dense, this should take around 10-20 minutes. (3rd picture)
Step 5: Cooldown.
- Once your mixture has become dense and cooked, leave it uncovered in a bowl that can maintain heat for 1-2 hours.
Once it has cooled down, you may put it in the fridge if you prefer. (The custard should have a yellowy color to it.)
Step 6: Details.
- Although this step is optional, you may add cinnamon to the custard for details. (The picture looks like I put a lot of it but that's because I accidentally smeared the custard.
And then finally, enjoy your custard!
