How to Make Creepy Baby Earrings and Share Them With the World
Tired of the same old same? Kendra Scott earrings got you feeling meh? How about those Forever 21 earrings you bought 12 years ago that have lightening bolts on them. Yeah, I know you've still got them. And diamond studs? Forget about it!
It's time to toss those has-been boring earrings and create something only a true weirdo can enjoy...Tiny Creepy Baby Earrings!

- Drill with 1/16" Drill Bit
- Safety Glasses
- Safety Gloves
- 2 Earring Hooks - I use the traditional fishhook style to make mine, but the choice is yours
- 2 6mm Jump Rings - match the color to your earrings
- 2 5mm x 11mm Screw Eyes - match the color to your earrings and jump rings
- Jewelry or Small Pliers
- Steady Hand
- Tenacity
Optional Supplies for Step 1:
- Tape (any type will do)
- Sharpie
- Ruler
Drill 3mm Holes Into the Tiny Baby Heads
This is when you need your safety goggles, gloves, and steady hand. While gripping each baby tight with one hand, use your other hand to steadily, safely, and slowly drill into the baby's head for 3mm. To ensure you do not slip and hurt yourself, use gentle squeezes on the drill until you get to approximately 3mm.
It will be difficult for you to guestimate 3mm on your first set of tiny babies. The importance of this depth is so that the screw eyes you will screw into the baby's head have a good starting point to twist into. You do not want it so deep that the screw eyes have no more head to traverse. Buying extra tiny babies can help you practice to get to the 3mm sweetspot.
Tip: To avoid failed guestimates, you can use a piece of tape and a ruler. Lay a small piece of tape next to the ruler and use a Sharpie to put a mark on the tape at 3mm. Then, put the piece of tape on the drillbit (with the 0 - 3mm side at the end of the outward facing bit - see photos for clarity). Drill into the babe's head until you have reached the mark on your tape. Repeat this for the second babe.
Twist Screw Eyes Into Each Baby's Head
This step is trickier than it looks. You will now need your tenacity as the tiny babies have a tendency to reject the screwing into their head.
Insert the screw eye into the 3mm hole you drilled in one of the babies' heads. While gripping the baby tight with one hand, use your other hand to begin to twist the screw eye farther into the hole. You will need to use gentle force both holding and twisting. Twist all the way into the baby until all you see is the top of the screw eye. Make sure that the screw eye is positioned so that the hole openings are on either side of the baby, not facing out from the face.
If you are finding difficulty getting the screw eye to stick and begin screwing, you can use the pliers to twist it instead of your hands. If you still have trouble, you may need to go back to Step 1 and drill slightly farther into the baby's head.
Repeat this step for the other tiny baby.
Use Pliers to Attach Jump Rings to Screw Eyes
Using your pliers, open the first jump ring. Attach it to the screw eye coming out of the baby's head. Do not close the jump ring. Repeat this step for the second baby.
Attach Ear Wires to Jump Rings
Now that your jump rings are open, slide your ear hooks onto them. Use your pliers to close the jump rings.
Share Your Creation With the World
Insert the babies' ear hooks into your pierced ears. (If you do not have pierced ears, see tutorial How to Pierce Your Own Ears with a Lemon, Ice, and Needle)
Stand up, assuming you're sitting - if you're standing already, perfect. Walk towards your front door. Speak to no one. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Walk out the door. Walk down the street. Walk into the first public business you pass. Stare directly into the eyes of the first person you see. Point at your ear lobes.
Congratulations! You have shared your Tiny Creepy Baby Earrings with the world!
